ASTEK has focused its social responsibility during the first quarter on supporting baking and pastry entrepreneurs as well as the community of Alajuelita.

SUPPORT FOR ENTREPRENEURS

ASTEK donates workshops in baking and pastry techniques at the National Training Institute (INA) in order to support micro and small businesses.

SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY OF ALAJUELITA

Approximately 40% of ASTEK’s employees live in the canton of Alajuelita, leading us to support the Municipality of Alajuelita through social responsibility activities that provide well-being and development for its inhabitants.

During the first quarter of this year we supported various municipal activities by donating make-believe workshops for children, nutrition workshops for children and parents, and snacks for various sporting activities (“Clásica Recreativa Esquipulas MTB” y “Clásica Alajueliteña Esquipulas”).

ASTEK GENERATES 100% OF ITS OWN ELECTRICITY

During the first quarter of this year, ASTEK reached a milestone: the company now generates 100% of its own electricity through a robust photovoltaic solar system installed in April 2017. This system resulted in both economic and environmental benefits. The optimization and careful use of resources in all the processes of our production line were crucial in obtaining this result.

ASTEK INCENTIVES USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES IN OTHER BUSINESSES IN PURSUIT OF NATIONAL GOAL

ASTEK served as a successful case study for the ENERTIVA company in its work to build awareness about the use of renewable energies at conferences held by the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries (CICR), Chamber of Food Service Industries (CACIA) and the Foreign Trade Chamber (CRECEX). This work seeks to incentivize the use of clean energies and the achievement of Costa Rica’s national goal.
